The Victoria & Alfred Hotel is a 1904 North Quay Warehouse, converted in 1990 to a luxury hotel, it is named in honour of the Queen of England and her son who visited the Cape in 1870, when Prince Alfred officially opened the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town. There is a colonial ambience with a sense of past shipwrecks and storms that decorate the public areas emphasized by the wooden staircase and the iconic telescope. The pool and bar area is across the way in a beautifully manicured garden, also an ideal setting for al fresco dining.
The 94 spacious, air-conditioned, en-suite rooms are spread over three floors. The Junior Suites on the first and second floor face Table Mountain or the cosmopolitan Piazza, while the third floor is home to 26 sophisticated superior loft rooms, with more elevated views. The rooms are large, with data compatible flat-screen televisions, wireless internet and trouser press, complimentary filter coffee, herbal teas and biscuits as well as complimentary welcome beverages on arrival.
Other features of the hotel are the designer spa treatment rooms and gym facilities, a travel consultancy and Information service, a secretarial service, professional child minding services and a fleet of luxury sedans for airport, city and restaurant transfers.
Perry’s Bridge Hollow is located amongst Baobab, Fig and Acacia trees in the heart of the Colonial Perry’s Bridge Trading Post in Hazyview, only minutes from the Kruger National Park. The hotel is set in a soothing indigenous garden with a welcoming pool and is within walking distance of 4 restaurants, which offer a wide variety of cuisine. The award-winning afro-chic Kuka Restaurant and Cocktail Bar offers a large selection of venison dishes while Perry’s Bridge Brewery offers locally brewed lager. The Trading Post also boasts clothing boutiques, a deli, a curio shop, an interior design décor store, a hairdressing salon and an adventure and safari centre.
The relaxed, yet sophisticated atmosphere of the hotel carries through to the 31 spacious rooms and 3 family suites, which have custom furnishings in a Colonial style. All are air-conditioned and have satellite television, mini-safes, tea and coffee stations and mini fridges. The en-suite bathrooms have inside and outside showers and the rooms open out to private patios with Lowveld vistas. Enjoy a night of Shangaan dance and song at the neighbouring Shangaan River Club which offers traditional cuisine in a boma under the stars, or be intrigued by the Elephant Whispers, with the opportunity to touch and ride the elephants.
Family owned and managed since 1933, Lion Sands Private Game Reserve is situated in the southern portion of the 65,000 hectare Sabi Sand Game Reserve, adjacent to the Kruger National Park, and is the only private reserve to have access to the perennial Sabie River. Lion Sands River Lodge is situated on the banks of the Sabie River under a canopy of trees dating back almost 800 years, with the swimming pool and lounging deck area being one of the many prime game viewing spots at the lodge. There is a homely lounge and bar area, an indoor and outdoor dining area, a health spa and gym and a secluded river island deck built on the river designed for birding and game viewing.
The 18 thatched en-suite bedrooms are linked to the main lodge by raised wooden walkways. They are cool and airy rooms decorated in earthy tones, with air-conditioning, mini bars and wooden viewing decks. The attractive bathrooms have pebble in-laid floors and outdoor showers.
Your stay at Lion Sands River Lodge includes three meals daily, teas & coffees, local drinks, spirits and wines, two game drives daily, game drive refreshments and airport transfers to and from Skukuza.
